A police chase through several streets of Arrecife ended with a spectacular traffic accident on Tisalaya street, after a driver fled when police officers attempted to intercept him for speeding.

According to several witnesses who spoke to *La Voz*, the vehicle was traveling at high speed down Rambla Medular, **carrying out dangerous overtakes and reckless maneuvers.** The chase began after officers detected the car significantly exceeding the speed limit on the road.

One of the witnesses explained that "the car overtook us at high speed, zigzagging between vehicles, with the Police behind." Still according to his account, the "driver continued to flee, "turned into the sports center area and shortly after we found it crashed on Tisalaya street," where it ended up colliding with a van. The witness adds that, moments before the impact, the vehicle would have run the stop sign on Gregorio street.

The chase ended when he attempted to enter Tisalaya street the wrong way, colliding with another vehicle that had the right of way. As a consequence of the accident, the driver of the affected vehicle was taken to the Doctor José Molina Orosa Hospital, while both cars suffered significant material damage.

Drug positive

After the accident, officers administered alcohol and drug tests, which came back positive for drugs, as La Voz has learned. Furthermore, it was also confirmed that the driver did not have a valid driving license.

Finally, the man was arrested by the Police, and the corresponding proceedings were initiated.
