The sinking of a sailboat off the coast of Playa Blanca, in the municipality of Yaiza, mobilized several emergency services on the morning of Saturday, December 27, 2025, after an alert was received about a possible fuel spill at sea.

The vessel, approximately 13 meters long, is completely submerged about 25-30 meters from the coast, in front of the HD Express Hotel, remaining moored to the stern anchor next to a buoy. An initial alert reported the presence of fuel in the water, which prompted the activation of the emergency device.

However, upon the arrival of the Arrecife Firefighters, it was confirmed that the spill had already dissipated, with no visible traces of contamination observed in the area. Despite this, Maritime Rescue continues to operate in the location to monitor the situation and rule out environmental risks

According to the data collected, the sailboat had been sunk for approximately one month. It was secured at the time after drifting near the port's buoy, and its owner has not yet been located. Salvamento Marítimo, Local Police, and Firefighters have participated in the operation, and the emergency is being monitored.
