A motorcyclist was surprised by the Civil Guard when he was driving at a speed of 235 kilometers per hour, in an area where the limit is set at 100. The events took place in the municipality of San Bartolomé on March 17, although it has only now been made public.
As explained by the Benemérita, the motorcycle was detected in a speed control that the Civil Guards had established on the LZ-20 road (Arrecife-Tinajo). "As soon as the motorcycle was detected by the radar, the corresponding device was established in order to proceed with the arrest, subsequently initiating the rest of the proceedings with the contribution of the frame taken by the radar and reports made by the investigating force of the Traffic Detachment in collaboration with the Territorial Team of the Judicial Police of the Civil Guard of Tías," they explain in a statement.
Once the driver was identified, he was informed that such conduct could constitute a criminal offense, and the corresponding report was handed over to the Arrecife Duty Court, as well as to the Permanent Attachment of the Prosecutor's Office, where the investigated party was summoned.
As a result of that complaint, a quick trial was held and, according to the Civil Guard, the driver was sentenced to two years in prison and to the deprivation of the right to drive motor vehicles and mopeds for four years.
This body recalls that, as established by the Penal Code, "the sentence of deprivation of the right to drive motor vehicles and mopeds for more than two years entails the loss of the driving license, so the convicted person must carry out the appropriate tests before the Traffic Headquarters for the restitution of their right to drive vehicles".
