Romina Celeste's husband, the young woman who disappeared in Lanzarote since New Year's, has stated that he found the woman dead when he arrived home on January 1 and that he got rid of the body, according to sources from the investigation speaking to La Voz.

Raúl D.C., who was arrested this Sunday after "reasonably sufficient evidence" of his authorship in the events was found, had been reported for mistreatment last August, a few days before marrying Romina, although he has stated that he was acquitted.

Romina's husband is expected to appear in court next Wednesday and will do so at the Investigating Court number 1 of Arrecife, which is competent in cases of violence against women. However, the Superior Court of Justice of the Canary Islands has announced that the secrecy of the proceedings has been declared.

"It's not the first time she's disappeared", he told La Voz

It should be remembered that although Romina Celeste disappeared on New Year's Day, her husband did not report her disappearance until a week later, stating after filing the report that he had not done so before because it was not the first time his wife had disappeared and he thought she had "left" the house voluntarily.

In the account he gave to La Voz at the time, Raúl D.C. stated that the young woman "had been asking him for 'money' for 'days' to 'bring her son' from Paraguay, where Romina is from, and that she left the house that night "to avoid an argument", not finding his wife in the house when he returned the next day. "And most of her clothes and a black travel backpack were also missing. Her toiletries were also missing and her cell phone and my personal cell phone were also missing", the young woman's spouse said at the time, who also pointed out that "some cash that was in the house" was missing.

It was finally on January 8 when, after talking to Romina's relatives, who were worried after not hearing from the young woman for days, the husband reported the disappearance. "He hadn't said anything. He hadn't called the mother or anyone", a young woman's aunt told La Voz, who stated that the husband had told them that in the early morning of December 31 to January 1 "they had had a very strong argument".
