Rescue services resumed early this Wednesday morning, and for the third consecutive day, the search for the body of the last of the immigrants who lost their lives on Sunday after the boat they were traveling in capsized in Teguise (Lanzarote). Maritime Rescue and the Canary Emergency Service (SUC) and Civil Guard divers are participating in the operation.
So far, 25 bodies have been recovered of the 26 who, according to testimonies from the six survivors of the tragedy, were traveling in the boat that capsized near the coast of Los Cocoteros on Sunday. Most of the victims were minors, although there were also smaller children.
In total, 32 people were traveling in the boat, instead of the 28 announced at first. The immigrants came from various parts of Morocco, the Sahara and Mauritania and the boat had left in the early hours of Saturday from the Moroccan town of Tarfaya.
