At least one blade of one of the wind turbines in Montaña Mina was thrown off this Wednesday in San Bartolomé.
The Local Police and the San Bartolomé City Council have intervened to perimeter the area and thus prevent any hiker from suffering an incident due to the fall of remains from the windmill.
"There is a sheet of the wings that is going to come loose at any moment", they alerted the firefighters of the Lanzarote Security and Emergency Consortium, given the possible fall of another blade. However, the firefighters did not have to intervene since the situation was resolved between the agents of the Local Police and the operators of the consistory.
Lanzarote is suffering strong gusts of wind this Wednesday that are expected to exceed 60 kilometers per hour in most of the island. Although the situation is expected to improve slightly throughout the afternoon, the gusts will be above 40 kilometers per hour, according to the Aemet forecast.
It is not the first time that the strong wind breaks a blade or one of the wind turbines in Montaña Mina. In addition, several readers reported during the summer that one of the mills, which ended up breaking, was out of control.
