"The investigation is ongoing." That is all that is confirmed by the National Police, three days after the violent robbery registered in a jewelry store in Arrecife, which resulted in two people injured by a firearm. Although the security cameras recorded the robbery, the thief was hooded.

In principle, the police are looking for a person, who was the one who entered the jewelry store armed and shot two people, but they do not rule out that an accomplice was waiting for him outside. However, as of Thursday afternoon, no arrests had been made, as La Voz has been able to confirm.

Meanwhile, the Councilor for the Local Police of Arrecife, Jacobo Lemes, has already requested a meeting with the Island Directorate of the State Administration in Lanzarote, to convey his concern after this violent robbery and to try to improve coordination and security in Arrecife.

"Other times I myself have tried to convey calm, because I think Arrecife is a quiet city and I still think so, but this situation is already alarming to me too," Jacobo Lemes declared after the event on Radio Lanzarote - Onda Cero.

Struggle and shots

As relatives of the victims told La Voz, a single person, hooded and armed, entered the jewelry store and pointed the gun at the owner, who is 65 years old and in a wheelchair.

Tired of having already suffered up to eight robberies in recent years, at one point he took a crutch and tried to confront the thief, but he ended up shooting him. In addition, he also shot his sister, co-owner of the business, who was also in the jewelry store.

Fortunately, the shots hit them in a buttock and an arm, so the injuries did not endanger their lives and they have already left the hospital.
