Nine members of a criminal group that introduced drugs into the island from Africa arrested

Two of them have been placed in provisional detention. The investigation began when one of the arrested was intercepted at the airport with 400 grams of cocaine inside his body.

The National Police arrest nine people in Arrceife for drug trafficking

Agents of the National Police have arrested in Lanzarote nine men from Guinea Bissau, aged between 40 and 55 years, as alleged perpetrators of a drug trafficking offense. According to the agents, the arrested men brought drugs from Africa for distribution and sale on the island.

One of them was intercepted and arrested at the César Manrique airport, coming from a flight from Senegal with a stopover in Gran Canaria, with 400 grams of cocaine inside his body distributed in acorns.

After his arrest, the National Police initiated an investigation and carried out five searches in different homes in Arrecife, in which they seized 1,183 grams of cocaine, 640 grams of heroin, 1,677 grams of cutting substance, 28,477 euros in cash, computer equipment, several cell phones and various documentation.

The police force indicates that it was a criminal organization dedicated to the introduction, distribution and sale of narcotics in Lanzarote from the African continent and identified nine members, seven of them with records for similar events.

After the corresponding police report was prepared, all the detainees were placed at the disposal of the court, with the proceedings being handled by the Investigating Court Number 4 of Arrecife, which coordinated the investigation in collaboration with the Anti-Drug Prosecutor of Lanzarote, decreeing the immediate imprisonment of two of them.
