During the early morning of this Monday, September 22, several fires occurred in different parts of the municipalities of Arrecife and San Bartolomé, resulting in a total of nine completely burned containers and several vehicles affected by the flames.

The Lanzarote Security and Emergency Consortium reported that it was alerted by the CECOES about several consecutive container fires in different streets. The first ones were located on Hermanos Díaz Rijo street and José María Gil street, both in the La Concha and El Cable area, within the municipality of Arrecife. Minutes later, new outbreaks were reported on Siroco street (corner with Barlovento) and Botavara street, in Playa Honda, within the municipality of San Bartolomé.

A fire brigade crew aboard the Bravo 5 unit was dispatched to each of the points, which proceeded to extinguish the fires using water. Despite the rapid intervention, the fires completely consumed nine waste containers and caused damage to several vehicles that were parked next to them.

Agents from the Local Police of both municipalities and the Civil Guard were also transferred, who collaborated in the intervention and secured the affected areas. At the moment, no information has been reported on the identification of possible perpetrators, so it is not ruled out that these are intentional acts.
