A new scam with the rental of a fake house has occurred in Arrecife. It has happened to a couple who were looking for apartments in the capital of Lanzarote and found one "cheap on Milanuncios", explains the woman.
"I paid him the deposit of 550 euros in advance to have it reserved", she says, since, "the supposed owner told us that there were more people interested in the rental", says the affected woman. But, "he also wanted the month's rent in advance" and "we said no", she reveals.
After the deposit, "I never heard from him again", she says. In addition, "we have tried to call him on several occasions" but "the calls don't go through", she says.
"We didn't realize that he didn't show us the apartment", she laments. Given that we "had to leave our house and the rents are sky high", she acknowledges. "We fell for it out of desperation", she admits. All because of the apartments that are "unattainable", she confesses. "Our apartment contract was ending and we were going to be on the street", she says, showing her desperation.

"It shouldn't be an isolated case", she makes clear. "We went to the bank and they told us that we are the second victims of fraud this week", she reveals. She confirms that in Arrecife "many cases of fraud in rental housing are heard of".
The couple has filed a complaint with the National Police and maintains the "hope that they will find the scammer", she concludes.
