Maritime Rescue rescued this Monday morning another five inflatable boats in waters near Lanzarote with about 300 people on board, as reported to Efe by a spokesperson for the state-owned company.

The first rescue was carried out by the Salvamar Al Nair, just 14 kilometers from the coast, when providing assistance to a group of 49 men of Maghrebi and sub-Saharan origin.

Almost at the same time, the Guardamar Urania was mobilized, which located and rescued four more inflatable boats about 50 kilometers from the island, with around 255 people on board.

At the moment, there are no more details about that group of rescued people.

On its return voyage to Arrecife, the Urania detected a sixth boat with immigrants that it could not pick up, but the Guardamar Calíope is already heading towards it.
