The 74-year-old man who suffered a cardiorespiratory arrest in public on Monday was not resuscitated, according to one of the paramedics who intervened in the incident, on Avenida de Las Playas in Puerto del Carmen, told La Voz.
“We spent about 40 minutes performing advanced resuscitation maneuvers without success. But since it still gave us that he had some pulse, we took him to the Hospital,” says this health worker, who wanted to clarify the information that had been provided by the Coordinating Center for Emergencies and Security.
From the CECOES they had reported that the health personnel of the Canary Emergency Service had managed to recover this man from the arrest, and that they transferred him to the hospital in serious condition. “He was still in cardiorespiratory arrest when we transferred him in the ambulance,” he clarifies.
Regarding the intervention, he wanted to emphasize that the first to help the man were a doctor and a nurse from a private clinic located in the area.
“They were doing basic maneuvers,” he explains. Afterwards, an ambulance with basic life support from the SUC arrived first, followed by another medicalized one, with which they began to perform advanced maneuvers, which were unsuccessful.
Finally, they decided to transfer him to the hospital “with a very weak pulse”, using the automatic resuscitation machine in the ambulance, until they arrived at Molina Orosa. There, according to this health worker, his death was confirmed an hour later.
