Civil Guard operation in Lanzarote against child pornography

A 46-year-old man has been arrested in Lanzarote as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of corruption of minors, for downloading and uploading audiovisual material with child pornography to the internet. The operation was carried out by the Civil Guard, through the Technological Investigation Team (EDITE) of the Judicial Police of the Las Palmas Command, within the framework of Operation "Cereixa".

The arrest took place on May 7 and, according to the agents, the material he shared had "explicitly sexual content in which minors participate".

The operation began in August, following a warning from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, a non-profit American organization whose objectives include helping to prevent child sexual exploitation.

The data provided warned of the alleged uploading of pedophile content files on the Internet from the province of Las Palmas, specifically from Fuerteventura, which is why the EDITE of the Civil Guard immediately carried out investigations aimed at identifying the perpetrator of the reported acts.

Entry and registration

However, the development of the investigation placed the alleged perpetrator on the island of Lanzarote, which is why the Civil Guard requested a warrant to enter and search his home, which was carried out on the 7th in a house in the town of Playa Honda, at which time the agents proceeded to arrest him and seize various computer equipment for later analysis.

"The Civil Guard of the Las Palmas Command continues to work to prevent child sexual exploitation and assist victims," they say in a statement.

Along with the Technological Investigation Team, the Central Operations Unit (UCO) and the Territorial Team of the Judicial Police of Costa Teguise have participated in the operation.
