National Police agents in Arrecife have arrested a man as the presumed perpetrator of a robbery with violence committed in the capital of Lanzarote, in which an elderly woman in a vulnerable situation was the victim.

The events occurred on April 10th, in broad daylight, when the victim was walking along a central street near their home.

The author approached her by surprise, using disproportionate violence by throwing her to the ground, immobilizing her, and hitting her, managing to steal a gold chain from her, but not also taking her purse.

The investigation allowed for the full identification of the alleged perpetrator thanks to the collaboration of a witness and the analysis of the images captured by the municipal video surveillance system.

However, at the time of his identification, he was not arrested, as the investigated person had re-entered the penitentiary center days before after being arrested by National Police officers for the commission of another robbery with violence committed during the same weekend.

It should be noted that the detainee had numerous records for crimes against persons and property.

Once the police proceedings were concluded, the detainee was placed at the disposal of the competent judicial authority, who ordered his admission to prison.
