The Local Police of Arrecife, through its Documentoscopy and Document Forgery Unit (UDOC), has opened proceedings against J.H.H., 69 years old, for an alleged crime of document forgery, for trying to access a business in the capital with a false medical certificate that exempted him from wearing a mask indoors.

The events took place when agents were alerted by the security guard of a commercial establishment in the capital that a client was "seriously" disturbing public order by trying to enter the premises without a mask. The investigated person was using a medical report in which its use was discouraged due to "medical problems", refusing to identify himself to the security guard in order to verify if said report was in his name.

Once on the scene, this person, who at all times showed "a contemptuous and hostile attitude towards the security guard" and later towards the police, was identified. After the medical report he was carrying was checked by one of the UDOC agents, "some indications were detected that indicated that it could be a forgery."

After receiving confirmation from the Canary Islands Health Service that the medical report was false, the Local Police initiated the appropriate proceedings for document forgery against this person.

The Local Police adds that it is not the first time that agents have had to act against the same man, as they claim that on previous occasions they had also been required by those responsible for different hospitality establishments in the capital and the municipal market "for conflicts and disturbances of public order due to his refusal to use the mask", as well as for non-compliance with the measures established for the prevention of Covid-19 that were in force.
