An elderly man suffered cardiorespiratory arrest this Friday on the shore of La Garita beach, in Arrieta, in the municipality of Haría. The Lanzarote Security and Emergency Consortium intervened in the operation to collaborate in the resuscitation maneuvers of the affected person.

According to the Consortium, the alert was received at 5:03 p.m., when personnel from the North Park were at their base. The firefighters traveled to the beach with a semi-automatic external defibrillator (AED).

Upon arrival, the lifeguard was already performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers. The personnel moved the man to a safe area to place the defibrillator and continue with the resuscitation maneuvers.

During the intervention, two basic life support ambulances and Local Police officers also attended the scene. With the arrival of the doctor, he took charge of the healthcare assistance and coordinated subsequent actions.

Once stabilized, the affected person was transferred to an ambulance for evacuation to the Doctor José Molina Orosa University Hospital, in Arrecife.
