Firefighters rescued this Friday a 68-year-old man after suffering a fall on La Arena beach, in the Los Ajaches area, as reported by the Lanzarote Emergency Consortium.
The incident took place around 1:18 PM, at which point 112 alerted the emergency services about the fall of this person, who had twisted his ankle.
After that, firefighters headed to the location in two vehicles, although on the way they found that the high tide prevented crossing along the coast, so they used the mountain path as access to the area where the injured person was.
Upon arriving at the scene, the emergency services found that the man had suffered a fall on a poorly maintained path and presented an outward deformity in his right ankle and bruises in the same area.
The affected person indicated that he only felt pain in that area, so the firefighters immobilized the affected area with a splint. Subsequently, they activated support from the Central Park with the Romeo 4 unit and two firefighters.
Later, they evacuated the affected person using a KONG stretcher (carrying stretcher) to the town of Playa Quemada, where an SUC ambulance and medical personnel took charge of his assistance and subsequent transfer to the hospital.
