Former footballer José Daniel González Rodríguez passed away this past Tuesday in Lanzarote. A player for Unión Sur Yaiza, this young man died at the age of 29. According to La Voz, he was found lifeless in his home and may have died of a heart attack.
"From his early days in our youth academy to his debut in the first team, Daniel was synonymous with effort, dedication, and love for our jersey," the club stated in a press release. "His legacy will always remain in our club and in the hearts of all who had the honor of knowing him," they added.
The wake began on the morning of this Wednesday, March 19, at 12:30 p.m., in the Church of San Isidro (Uga), followed by his burial in the Yaiza cemetery.
To conclude, the team emphasized that "he will always be part of the Unión Sur Yaiza family."
