The Lanzarote Security and Emergency Consortium intervened between Sunday night and early Monday morning in two fires registered in different parts of the island, specifically in Arrecife and Playa Honda, which affected containers and waste deposited on public roads.

The first action took place at 9:57 PM on Argentina street in Arrecife, after the CECOES 1-1-2 alerted of a fire on a public road. Upon the arrival of the personnel, the firefighters confirmed that the flames were affecting several items of clothing deposited next to a waste container.

The rapid intervention allowed the fire to be extinguished with sprayed water before it spread to the container or other nearby elements. After extinguishing the flames, the personnel carried out the corresponding checks to rule out a possible re-ignition and concluded the service. The Local Police of Arrecife also participated in the operation, taking charge of securing the area.

Hours later, at 1:43 AM, a new contingent from the Consortium was mobilized to the LZ-301, near the Mimados nursery, in Playa Honda, after receiving a report of a waste container fire.

In this case, the firefighters found an organic waste container on fire and proceeded to extinguish the fire using sprayed water, subsequently completing the finishing and cooling tasks.

The fire caused the container to be completely incinerated, although no damage occurred to other nearby elements and there was no spread of the flames. Once the intervention was completed, the firefighters communicated the resolution of the service to CECOES and returned to their base. A contingent of the Local Police was also present in the area, collaborating in the security and control efforts of the surroundings.

The causes that originated either of the two fires have not yet been revealed.
