Firefighters extinguished a house fire on Guanarame street in the Maneje neighborhood of Arrecife on Saturday night, according to the Emergency Consortium.
The fire occurred around 10:00 PM and originated from the ceramic hob. Upon noticing the fire, the tenants of the house closed the kitchen and went outside. One of the neighbors, with an extinguisher, helped to reduce the intensity of the flames, which affected the extractor fan, kitchen furniture, and ceiling, and generated smoke throughout the kitchen and hallway.
After being alerted by CECOES, they went to the house where they confirmed there were no injuries and quickly extinguished the fire with sprayed and jet water. They also cleaned the affected furniture, as well as the plasterboard panels that were cracked and fallen, and subsequently ventilated the house.
Finally, the emergency personnel located medication for one of the children and collaborated in the collection of belongings to spend the night at a relative's house.
New fire at the old El Cielo nightclub
Firefighters also responded to another fire on Saturday, specifically in the warehouses of the old El Cielo nightclub. The fire occurred around 8:15 PM and produced a large column of smoke that could be seen from several points on the island.
