A team from the Lanzarote Security and Emergency Consortium intervened this Thursday, June 12, after being alerted by the fall of several sheets from the facade of a warehouse on Velacho Street, in Arrecife.
The events occurred around 3:25 PM, when a witness reported that some sheets had blown off from a roof, leaving it in a risky situation. Firefighters from the Central Park arrived at the affected area using a ladder truck and confirmed that there were several loose sheets. During the inspection, they detected that the fastening brackets were rusted, which severely compromised the stability of the exterior cladding.
The personnel temporarily secured the most unstable sheets to prevent further detachments. Subsequently, the Local Police were informed, who in turn reported the situation to the person in charge of the company that owns the warehouse, warning of the urgent need for a comprehensive repair of the roof. According to the emergency services, in the event of wind, there is a risk that the roof could completely detach.
