Those involved in some vandal acts in San Bartolomé have been identified after several weeks of investigation and some have been sanctioned, as stated on Radio Lanzarote-Onda Cero by the Councilor for Public Services and the Environment, Raúl de León.
The Councilor for Public Services and the Environment of the San Bartolomé City Council, Raúl de León, explained that "first they filed complaints with the Police for the burning of containers and the vandalism against the statue 'Alisio' in Playa Honda and "thanks to the work of the Local Police, it was possible to identify the participants, all of them between 30 and 40 years old," he specified.
The author of the burning of the containers has been fined by the judge with 2,000 and some euros, according to the councilor. However, De León stressed that "they are not very large amounts."
Regarding the second incident, two people were identified and subsequently sanctioned for painting graffiti on the statue 'Alisio' by Horinsa in Playa Honda. The councilor emphasizes that "it was not only the graffiti, but also they damaged the environment, specifically, they scratched some wall of the neighbors in the area," he added.
In addition, the Consistory also plans to go as a complaining party to another trial for a third burning of containers and the painting of graffiti in a children's park in San Bartolomé. "We want citizens to know that we are doing our job to put an end to this type of crime," the councilor stressed.
De León acknowledges that despite the "difficulties in making the sanctioning payments effective, we are trying to be efficient when it comes to catching the culprits," they revealed to the newspaper. He emphasizes that the Consistory does everything possible to tackle the problem.
