The Lanzarote Rescue and Emergency Service (Emerlan) carried out 16 interventions throughout the past weekend in various parts of Lanzarote and La Graciosa.
Regarding the interventions, fourteen of them were health-related, highlighting the service in the fire at the La Santa children's center, in which the island's rescue services attended to several young people. Members of Emerlan and an ambulance from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) approached the center last Sunday around 01:40 hours to assist the minors. Two of them were transferred to the Molina Orosa Hospital for smoke intoxication and respiratory problems, pointed out the director of Emerlan, Rubén López.
Additionally, two passengers of a boat were rescued by Emerlan last Saturday one nautical mile from Puerto Calero. "The boat had run out of control," revealed the director to the newspaper. After a notice from 1-1-2 and Maritime Rescue, they were found and towed to the Port of La Tiñosa.
Also in Lanzarote, a person was attended to last Saturday at noon for suffering a fainting spell in a wrestling arena, so they had to be transferred to a center, added López.
As for the interventions in La Graciosa, Emerlan carried out a maritime evacuation from La Graciosa last Sunday morning. The affected person was evacuated by boat to Lanzarote, given the severity of the injuries they experienced. According to López, they were treated for "a fracture after suffering a fall" on the eighth island.
