The National Police has arrested a fugitive who was wanted by Norwegian justice. The arrest occurred last February in Gran Canaria, carried out by UDYCO Las Palmas, in collaboration with the General Commissariat of Judicial Police and the Norwegian Police.

The detainee, a 22-year-old Norwegian, was wanted through a European Arrest Warrant as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of sexual assault on a minor under 16 years of age, committed on September 10, 2025, in Oslo, as well as for conspiracy to commit murder on February 21, 2026, also in the Norwegian capital.

The investigation in Spain began on February 25 after an urgent notice was received from the Norwegian authorities, who reported the possible presence of the wanted person on the island of Gran Canaria. Likewise, his immediate location and arrest were sought given the seriousness of the facts and the recent attempt to arrange, through encrypted messaging applications, the commission of an intentional fire at a residence in Oslo in exchange for financial compensation.

Immediately an intensive search device was established, upon having indications that the fugitive could be found in the south zone of the island.

As a result of the efforts made, in less than 24 hours from the receipt of the notice, it was possible to locate his/her whereabouts in some tourist apartments in the town of Puerto Rico.

The operation culminated in the arrest of the wanted person last February 26. At the time of the arrest, the detainee was not carrying documentation or electronic devices, having previously disposed of his mobile phone as a precautionary measure.

The detainee was placed at the disposal of the corresponding Central Investigating Court of the National Court, responsible for processing the European Arrest Warrant.
