The Civil Guard and the Local Police of Yaiza arrested 4 people on Thursday night to Friday and intercepted a total of 265 kilograms of hashish. The arrests occurred in two different operations, one in Uga and the other in front of the Pechiguera lighthouse, in Playa Blanca. The detainees, two of them of Spanish nationality and two other foreigners, have already been brought to justice.
The first of these operations was unleashed when the Civil Guard received a warning that several people were collecting bales buried near the coast. As a result of that alert, it was decided to initiate a "security device" together with the Yaiza Local Police at the Uga roundabout. The agents then saw how a vehicle left the caravan and fled along a nearby dirt road.
Guards and local police then initiated a "monitoring device", explain from the Civil Guard. That persecution allowed them to find three people, who had abandoned a car to try to escape running. Under the car, there were several bales of hashish, which totaled a weight of 40 kilos. In that service, two people, both of Spanish nationality, were arrested and a third managed to escape.
"Suspicious" boat in Pechiguera
Later, already in the early hours of Friday, the Yaiza Local Police detected a "suspicious boat" near the Pechiguera lighthouse, in Playa Blanca, during a raid and immediately notified the Civil Guard, they say from the Benemérita.
When the guards arrived, the municipal agents had intercepted the boat and arrested one person. And the agents had discovered three people on the coast with several bales of drugs. After the arrival of the Civil Guard, the local police arrested another person and seized the drugs, in total, 225 kilos of hashish distributed in several packages. The third involved ran away and, according to the Civil Guard, is still on the run.
