The businessman residing in Lanzarote, Rafael Jiménez, died this Thursday in Cáceres, after suffering a spectacular accident in the Iberian Classic Raid, a sporting event in which he was participating with his nephew, who was the co-driver in the vehicle.
According to reports from the 112 Emergency and Emergency Center of Extremadura and the Civil Guard, the incident occurred around three in the afternoon on the stretch between Torrecilla de los Ángeles and Hernán Pérez (Extremadura), when the all-terrain vehicle he was driving went off the road and plunged down an embankment, overturning multiple times, leaving both trapped inside.
After a complicated rescue operation, the health services certified the death of Rafael Jiménez, 51 years old, whose body has been transferred to the Institute of Legal Medicine of Cáceres. The businessman will be buried in his hometown, Granada.
Rafael Jiménez lived in Lanzarote where he started a family, and leaves behind a wife and two children, as well as many friends, as over the years he forged many relationships both in the field of business and friendship.
The 'Iberian Classic Raid' is a test in which classic cars, more than 25 years old, participate, and which crosses the Iberian Peninsula on dirt roads from Barcelona to Lisbon, with a route of 2,100 kilometers.
