The presence of a drone in the vicinity of César Manrique-Lanzarote Airport has forced, for safety reasons, the suspension of all operations around 4:30 PM this Sunday, April 26, as reported by Air Traffic Controllers on their X profile.
For minutes, planes could not land or take off at the aerodrome. After a few minutes and "the airport's OK, operations resume," stated Air Traffic Controllers.
The fines for this type of action range from 60 euros to 225,000 if it is for recreational use, although in case of being sanctioned, the offender should also pay compensation for material damage to third parties, not just the fine, according to the State Air Safety Agency (AESA).
In the case of a professional use of the drone, the penalty would range from 4,500 euros to a whopping 4.5 million.
