A breakdown in the electrical grid connecting Lanzarote and La Graciosa has left the eighth island without power since 7:00 AM this Sunday, as confirmed to La Voz by Enrique Espinosa, manager of the Lanzarote Security and Emergencies Consortium.

According to some residents of La Graciosa who spoke to this outlet, bars and businesses have not been able to open since early this morning, which has generated "chaos" on the island.

From the Emergencies Consortium, they have indicated that for several hours, workers have been working on this breakdown in the electrical grid located under the Risco de Famara to resolve it as soon as possible.

In this regard, they have reported that the electricity supply is expected to be restored within the next two hours.

In addition, they detailed that through a generator, they have managed to supply power to the oldest part of the town, as despite the island having a small power plant, it is not sufficient to supply electricity to all homes.
