Civil Guard agents, assigned to the Tahíche Penitentiary Center, arrested a man on August 19 who threw drugs hidden in tennis balls inside the prison.

The events began when the security guard in charge at that time of supervising the video surveillance cameras alerted the agents to the presence of an individual who, using a scooter, had thrown two objects inside the penitentiary center.

Acting quickly, the agents moved in an official vehicle and managed to intercept the suspect a short distance from the place where the launch had occurred, proceeding to his arrest and subsequent transfer to the Costa Teguise barracks, where the corresponding procedures were instructed.

After their recovery, it was found that the objects thrown were two tennis balls, which had been manipulated to hide inside wrappers with a total weight of approximately 240 grams of a substance that, according to a first analysis, was identified as hashish pollen.

The detainee, a 21-year-old citizen, was placed at the disposal of the Investigating Court number 1 of Arrecife, where the appropriate judicial proceedings continue to clarify the facts and determine the corresponding responsibilities.
