An Emerlan lifeguard rescued a swimmer in distress behind the breakwater that connects the hotel beach with Playa Chica in Puerto del Carmen, according to the NGO.

The incident took place at around two o'clock this Tuesday, December 24, when he activated the intervention protocol, requested support and entered the water to carry out the rescue. The lifeguard managed to extract the affected person through the center of the beach, considered the safest area given the conditions of the sea. The operation had the collaboration of a user on the shore, who helped get the man off the beach due to the presence of rocks and intense waves.

Once on land, the man was laid on the sand and his vital signs were taken, detecting an oxygen saturation of 84% and a blood pressure of 76/46. The man showed signs of severe fatigue after the effort and an ambulance was requested for his transfer.

The swimmer was transferred to the Doctor José Molina Orosa Hospital with controlled vital signs.

Second alert for children in danger

While the affected person was being attended to, the man's wife and daughter reported that two children could be in danger in the same area. Immediately, emergency resources were activated through 112, adding the beach boat to the lifeguards.

An exhaustive search was carried out in the area with the support of various teams, until it was confirmed that the children were safe in the Hotel Fariones, where they were staying. The alert was deactivated after this confirmation.

The rescue operation was attended by a GES-Emerlan boat, Boluntis, Civil Protection, an ambulance from the Canary Emergency Service (SUC), Civil Guard and Local Police of Tías.
