An attempted robbery at the Hubara cafeteria in Arrecife causes damage to the premises

The owner of the Hubara cafeteria in Arrecife has suffered an attempted robbery during the early hours of this Wednesday, April 19. According to the owner, the assailants "have not been able to enter inside" so "they have not taken anything" but "they have caused damage."

The events occurred at half past two in the morning, while the establishment "was closed." Those involved tried to access the restaurant and in their attempt, "they destroyed the glass" and "broke the door by prying it open," says the man. Then, seeing that "they could not access," since the door "was well closed" and that "the alarm went off," the assailants "ran away," he says. Moment in which "the police came" to the place.

The owner confesses that it is not the first time that this has happened to him: "in the 16 years that I have been open they have already entered twice." In addition, he acknowledges that "there are already about seven or eight broken glasses." Although this time he has not suffered losses, "once they took the cash register, another two bottles, tobacco, among other things."

"We have had five robberies in the area and they have already entered my place twice"

In addition, on Triana Street, where the cafeteria is located, it is not the first attempted robbery that has occurred this month. "We have had five in the area," such as the one of the "neighbor next door two weeks ago" and the "pull to the lady of the pharmacy," who ended up "dragged along the ground" to "take her bag."

As he told La Voz, the premises have surveillance cameras that have served for the police to "catch several thieves", but he says it is not enough: "They have track of them, but then they release them." He acknowledges that he feels "unsafe" especially with "his girls next door", since he considers that Arrecife is "the city without law" and that "there are no police watching over."

Leaving aside the damage, he also emphasizes that "he has lost the whole morning", since "I can't touch anything until the police go to collect the fingerprints", he says. He considers that "it's a joke", that "there are many robberies" and although he has taken measures "I have gone to file the complaint, but it is a waste of time", what should be done is "change the laws."
