A 72-year-old woman has died after falling into a water cistern after the floor of the house gave way. In addition, two other men were injured, one with a head injury and the other who suffered a fainting spell. The incident took place around 1:50 p.m. At that time, the Coordinating Center for Emergencies and Security (CECOES) 1-1-2 of the Government of the Canary Islands received an alert reporting that four people had fallen into a water cistern after the floor of a house in San Bartolomé gave way.
Ambulances from the Canary Emergency Service, agents from the Local Police, Civil Guard, firefighters and Civil Protection have been transferred to the scene. Among those affected were two technicians from an SUC ambulance who had traveled to the house since the woman, who later died, had suffered a fracture and required transfer to a hospital. The other person affected, apparently, is a relative who was in the house.
After the fall, the woman went into cardiorespiratory arrest, so after being rescued by the firefighters, the staff of the medicalized ambulance and another basic life support ambulance that was also sent to the scene of the accident performed basic and advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers, without success, confirming her death.
The Civil Guard has taken charge of the legal proceedings.
