Agents of the Citizen Security and Intervention Unit of the Local Police of Arrecife arrested L.D.R.G., 45 years old and native of Arrecife, for an alleged crime against public health. The police found him with narcotics "conveniently dosed for their alleged distribution", according to the Arrecife City Council. In addition, the agents seized the money that could come from said illicit activity.
This arrest was carried out after a device set up by the Local Police, after a meeting held by the councilor of the area, Jacobo Lemes, the Deputy Chief Commissioner of the Local Police, José Antonio Lasso, and the presidents of the neighborhood associations of different neighborhoods. In that meeting it was agreed to set up a specific device to address the complaints of the neighbors who were mainly concerned about the presence of drug trafficking in their streets.
For this reason, the agents of the USCI proceeded to carry out a prevention service on Clavijo y Fajardo street in the Valterra neighborhood, specifically in a garden area next to the Health Center, an area "specially indicated by neighborhood representatives, as a usual point of sale."
As a result of this operation, L.D.R.G was arrested and transferred to police facilities for the practice of proceedings. Subsequently, he was made available to the judicial authority.
Security conferences
The Arrecife City Council will continue to develop these citizen security conferences, which will take place this Thursday in the Valterra neighborhood. The meeting will be held from 7:00 p.m. in the Sociocultural Center and the attending neighbors will be able to learn, from the agent of the Intervention and Citizen Security Unit (USCI) in charge of giving the talk, a series of measures and guidelines to follow for the maintenance of security both on public roads and in homes, in vehicles and in leisure areas.
These conferences are born under the premise that citizenship is a "key" piece in improving the quality of service of its police. "Without their suggestions, comments and criticisms, the work of this body would be an arduous and difficult task", said the mayor Jacobo Lemes.
As Lemes recalled, "the best results are achieved when the citizen transmits their concerns to the nearby police so that they intervene and resolve in a satisfactory manner the different problems that occur in our city."
