One of the wells that accumulate sewage (also known as black water) in the Puerto Naos area, in Arrecife, overflowed in the afternoon of last Tuesday. As confirmed by the Security and Emergency Consortium, this septic tank burst and formed a puddle on the public road.

At around 6:40 p.m., an island resident passing through Avenida de Naos, near the San Ginés Hardware Store, next to the port entrance, came across this accumulation of liquid. "I passed by car, I had to swerve to the other lane and my whole car was left with a horrible smell," this citizen reveals in statements to La Voz

After that, the resident went to the National Police station in Arrecife, due to its proximity to the place, to report the situation. According to the information provided by the manager of the Lanzarote Security and Emergency Consortium, Enrique Espinosa, the accumulation of wipes caused one of the wells to "burst" and the dirt to "come out" and create "a nauseating smell."

During the evening, Emergency teams worked in the area to clean up the dirt that had remained on the street. In addition, the Consortium assures that the situation has already been resolved and everything is back to normal.
