Agents of the National Police, belonging to the Narcotics Group of the Local Police Station of Arrecife, have arrested D.E., 40 years of age, as the alleged perpetrator of a crime against public health. The man was arrested at the Guacimieta airport and the police seized "more than 600 grams of cocaine" that he was carrying "in his body", according to a statement.
The operation began at the beginning of February, when investigators learned that "a foreign citizen intended to introduce narcotics on the island of Lanzarote." After carrying out the corresponding police procedures, the agents discovered that the now detained was going to make the shipment by air, using the method commonly known as "mule." This method consists of transporting the drug inside the body.
Given these facts, the police established a police device that resulted in the arrest of D.E. when he arrived at the Guacimeta airport, in Lanzarote. After analyzing the substance, the agents verified that he was carrying 50 packages containing a total of 612 grams of cocaine.
The detainee, together with the corresponding police report, has been placed at the disposal of the competent Judicial Authority, who ordered his entry into provisional prison.
