According to the NGO, the crew of the tuna boat took immediate measures to control the situation, installing two bilge pumps in the engine room and heading towards the coast in a desperate attempt to avoid a catastrophe.
When the Emerlan troops arrived with the tuna boat, they assessed the situation and decided not to stop the engines and continue towards the nearest port. During the journey, the NGO provided constant support so that the boat arrived safe and sound at the port of La Tiñosa.
Once in port, the Emerlan team stood next to the tuna boat and began the process of emptying the bait tanks, which contained 13 tons of water. In addition, they collaborated closely with the crew to remove the ballast from the ship and empty the hold, so that the ship met the necessary conditions for entering the slipway.
