National Police agents have arrested a 56-year-old man in Arrecife, with no police record, as the alleged perpetrator of a crime against public health.
Thanks to citizen collaboration, a police investigation was initiated that allowed verifying that several letters were being sent from Uruguay allegedly containing various amounts of cocaine and whose recipient resided in the capital of Lanzarote.
National Police agents managed to locate the post office that received the letters from Uruguay and thanks to the collaboration of the Canine Guide Unit of the Arrecife Local Police, it was confirmed that an envelope that had not yet been delivered contained narcotic substances.
The police officers managed to identify the recipient of the correspondence, a 56-year-old man, with no police record and residing in the capital of Lanzarote. Therefore, the National Police agents proceeded to arrest him as the alleged perpetrator of a crime against public health.
With the mandatory judicial order, a search was carried out at the detainee's home, in which 64 grams of hashish, 22.63 grams of cocaine and 2 ecstasy pills were seized.
The corresponding police report was prepared and sent to the competent Judicial Authority.
The police intervention was carried out by agents of the National Police of the Arrecife Police Station and who had the collaboration of the Arrecife Local Police.
