National Police agents have arrested a man in Arrecife who was carrying 16 capsules of hashish inside his body. He is M.B.A., a 37-year-old man with no police record, who was arrested as the alleged perpetrator of a drug trafficking crime. In total, the detainee was carrying 212 grams of hashish in his body. Due to the impossibility of expelling the drug by his own means, M.B.A. had to undergo surgery. In fact, the agents became aware of what happened through the healthcare workers who came to his aid.

The Police indicate that their intervention began after being alerted by the healthcare personnel of an ambulance that was assisting an individual in a house in Arrecife. The medical personnel noticed that the patient gave off an "intense smell of hashish", they point out. According to what he told them, he had just arrived from a trip to Morocco, from where he brought "acorns" of said drug inside his body.

The police agents went to the place and the individual had to be transferred to a hospital center. There, since "he could not expel all the capsules by his own means, he had to undergo surgery", the police force relates.

In the operation to which he was subjected, 14 capsules were extracted from inside his body, to which are added 2 capsules that he expelled by his own means. In total, those capsules add up to 212 grams of hashish.

For all these reasons, the agents carried out his arrest, processing the corresponding police report, which was sent to the competent Judicial Authority. The police investigation was carried out by officials from the Arrecife Police Station.
