A five-month-old baby has died in a multiple hit-and-run this Monday afternoon in Playa Blanca, as reported by CECOES. In addition, two women have been seriously injured and four other people with moderate injuries.
The accident occurred at around 6.30 pm on Archipiélago Avenue in front of the Flamingo Hotel in the southern town. The people, tourists of English nationality, were walking on the sidewalk when the vehicle ran them over.
For now, the causes of the accident are unknown, although according to the Consortium, the driver reportedly indicated that the vehicle's steering had been blocked. According to Enrique Espinosa, manager of the Consortium, the Civil Guard will be in charge of the investigation to clarify what has happened.
One of the injured has been transferred to the airport to be evacuated to Doctor Negrín, the rest of those affected have been transferred to Molina Orosa.
After being alerted by CECOES, agents of the Local Police, Civil Guard, Firefighters, three ambulances and a helicopter have been dispatched to the scene.
The Emergency Consortium has sent psychologists to assist the affected tourists.

For its part, the Yaiza City Council expresses "its solidarity with the victims and their families of the multiple hit-and-run", as well as "total respect for the investigation of the facts by the authorities".
