The Civil Guard has surprised a driver driving at 186 kilometers per hour on the road from Tinajo to Arrecife, on a section where the speed is limited to 100 kilometers per hour.

The events occurred on November 4 and the Arrecife Traffic Detachment proceeded to report the 39-year-old man for a crime against road safety.

The intervention of the agents occurred within the framework of a routine speed control at kilometer point 3 of the LZ-20. It was there that the radar detected that this vehicle was traveling at 186 kilometers per hour, close to doubling the permitted limit.

The agents informed the driver that he was going to be reported for a very serious infraction of the General Traffic Regulations, which carries a penalty of 600 euros and the withdrawal of 6 points from his driving license.

The Civil Guard recalls that "speed has a direct influence on the occurrence and severity of traffic accidents" and adds that "with higher driving speeds, the number of accidents and their severity increase exponentially".
