One person was slightly injured on Tuesday night after colliding head-on with another vehicle near Mácher. At first, it was thought that the other person involved had fled, because there was no one inside the car. It has subsequently been discovered that the driver was having dinner in a nearby restaurant, had forgotten to put on the handbrake, and the car ended up on the road on its own, causing this collision, according to the Lanzarote Safety and Emergency Consortium.
The Coordinating Center for Security and Emergencies received the alert at 10:30 p.m. It reported that a head-on collision had just occurred on the LZ-2 road, near the Mácher church. Lanzarote firefighters and a Civil Protection ambulance went there.
The injured driver explained that he had not seen anyone inside the car he had crashed into. Emergency personnel searched the surrounding area but found no one either, so they thought the driver had fled after having this accident.
However, apparently that was not the case. And it is that this Wednesday morning some Italian tourists have filed a complaint for the theft of their rental vehicle. In this way, it has been discovered that these visitors were having dinner in a nearby pizzeria and forgot to put the handbrake on the vehicle. When they left the establishment, they thought their car had been stolen.
There is a small slope in the area and the vehicle picked up some speed and went towards the road. The other driver had the bad luck to find it at night and crash into it, although luckily he was only slightly injured.
