A 47-year-old Polish tourist drowned this Sunday on the beach of Órzola and the woman accompanying him was rescued unharmed by surfers in the area, as reported by the Emergency Consortium.
The incident occurred at approximately 2:50 p.m. when several calls alerted CECOES that a person was in distress 50 meters from the coast. The GES rescue helicopter, two ambulances, one medicalized and one basic life support, Local Police, and the Civil Guard were dispatched to the scene.
The affected individual was accompanied by a woman who was rescued, without injuries, by surfers in the area, while he, at the time of his rescue, was in cardiorespiratory arrest.
SUC personnel performed basic and advanced resuscitation maneuvers without success, and his death was confirmed.
Police services have initiated the corresponding proceedings.
