A resident of the island found a dead baby whale in the area of Montaña Amarilla, in La Graciosa, on Tuesday afternoon. Around 7:00 p.m., this citizen was walking around the eighth island when he saw this animal, first floating in the sea and, later, stranded on some rocks.
The calf is about two meters long. The councilor delegate of La Graciosa, Alicia Páez, brought it to the attention of the Cabildo and the Seprona so that they would take charge of the animal's corpse, as she explained on Radio Lanzarote-Onda Cero.
This Wednesday morning, around 11:00 a.m., the president of the Society for the Study of Cetaceans in the Canary Archipelago, Vidal Martín, will travel to the area to perform the necropsy to find out the causes of death of this baby whale.
