A 50-year-old man of Romanian origin has died after being rescued from the sea at La Cantería Beach in Órzola. At approximately 4:35 PM this Sunday, the Canary Islands Government's Coordinating Center for Emergencies and Security received an alert reporting that people had rescued a swimmer from the sea and were performing resuscitation maneuvers.
Two ambulances, one medicalized and one with basic life support, local police, and the Civil Guard have been dispatched to the scene.
Once at the scene, the healthcare personnel confirmed that the affected individual was in cardiorespiratory arrest and continued with advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers without success, confirming his death.
The Civil Guard has guarded the body of the deceased until the arrival of the judicial authority and is conducting the corresponding investigations.
The Local Police have collaborated with the rest of the emergency resources.
