A 17-year-old minor arrested for a violent robbery in the vicinity of the Arrecife Courts

A citizen heard the victim's cries for help and followed the young man with his vehicle until he caught up with him and detained him.

National Police agents have arrested a 17-year-old minor in Arrecife as the alleged perpetrator of a violent robbery. He snatched a woman's purse by force, after she had withdrawn cash from an ATM in the capital. 

The events unfolded after a woman called the 091 telephone number reporting that she had just been the victim of a violent robbery in the vicinity of the Arrecife courts.

The woman told the officers who arrived at the scene how a hooded individual violently snatched her purse as she was leaving an ATM after making a cash withdrawal.

A citizen, who heard the victim's cries for help, followed the individual with his vehicle, catching up with him and detaining him until the arrival of the national police.

The officers, who proceeded to arrest him as the alleged perpetrator of a violent robbery, were then able to verify that he was a 17-year-old minor. 

The events were brought to the attention of the Minors Section of the Provincial Prosecutor's Office of Las Palmas, who ordered the detained minor to be placed at their disposal together with the corresponding police report.
