Youths camping in Arrieta reported by the Civil Guard

The Civil Guard has reported a total of 19 young people, 13 of them minors, who were camping in Arrieta on July 30, in breach of health measures. According to the Benemérita, there were approximately 10 other people at the scene who fled the scene.

While carrying out citizen security prevention and coastal surveillance in Arrieta, Civil Guard agents from the Costa Teguise Main Post located several tents around 07:30 hours on the aforementioned day, as well as a large group of people around them, who apparently violated the hygienic-sanitary regulations due to the coronavirus, noting that none of them were wearing the mandatory mask.

When the agents approached the place on foot, several people from the group fled the scene, while the others began to dismantle the tents.

The agents finally identified 19 people between the ages of 15 and 20, specifically 13 minors. In addition, they observed cans of beer, bottles of alcohol, sun loungers, refrigerators and remains of toilet paper lying around the huts and in the vicinity.

Finally, the 19 young people were reported for violating health measures and for other infractions such as camping in an unauthorized or prohibited place and left the place. In the case of minors, the Civil Guard notified their legal guardians.

The administrative complaints will be sent to the Island Directorate of the Government in Lanzarote and to the Government of the Canary Islands for the processing of the corresponding administrative sanctioning files. In this regard, the Benemérita explains that, according to the aforementioned regulations, the surveillance, inspection and control of compliance with said measures, as well as the instruction and resolution of the sanctioning procedures that may be appropriate, will correspond to the competent bodies of the State, the autonomous communities and local entities within the scope of their respective powers. In addition, they recall that only failure to comply with the obligation to wear masks will be considered a minor infraction and sanctioned with a fine of up to 100 euros.
