The feast of Corpus Christi embellished the streets of Yaiza last Saturday with the realization of the salt carpets. Boys and girls of the municipality who had just received the sacrament of First Communion led the Corpus Christi procession in the Plaza de Los Remedios in Yaiza, after the religious ceremony officiated in the temple by the southern parish priest Jonathan Almeida to commemorate this festival of the Catholic Church destined to exalt the Eucharist.
Dozens of parishioners supported the call for this traditional festival in Yaiza, which began on Saturday morning with the enthusiastic elaboration of the colorful salt carpets, in charge of embellishing the route of the procession, by boys and girls who have received or will soon receive their First Communion and young people who have been confirmed, their families, neighbors of the municipality and members of groups such as the association for animal protection Doggys del Sur who once again joined this meeting of faith and tradition.
On Sunday, the faithful gathered in the church to share that moment of recollection and reflection that is the solemn mass, after which boys and girls who have received First Communion began the parade followed by the parish priest of Yaiza and numerous faithful, forming among all a long chain of faith and culture that toured the square, as tradition dictates, stepping on the colorful carpets to return to the temple.
The head of the Social Dynamization Area, Águeda Cedrés, thanks families and groups for "the effort they make each year to participate with enthusiasm and creativity in this activity that keeps alive the spirit of community and our traditions".
