With great enthusiasm and outstanding community participation, the Titerroy neighborhood continues to celebrate the festivities in honor of San José Obrero with enthusiasm. Wednesday night saw one of the most special moments of the festive program, with an emotional and vibrant concert in Pío XII square by the Achamán Popular Music Group, who came from San Cristóbal de La Laguna, and the prestigious Lanzarote voices of Ciro and Pancho Corujo.
The artistic fusion between Achamán and the Corujo brothers offered the public a memorable evening, with a varied repertoire that included folías, seguidillas and malagueñas, performed with the strength and sensitivity that characterizes the artists. The voices of Ciro and Pancho moved in a one-on-one that drew constant applause from the attendees, who did not stop humming and cheering each piece.
Under the direction of Héctor González, also responsible for the musical arrangements, Achamán surprised by including a nod to Latin American music in his repertoire, performing rancheras, boleros and tributes to great figures of the genre, thus expanding the connection with the public.
Founded in 1976 in the Barrio Nuevo de La Laguna, Achamán was born with the support of Los Sabandeños, who lent them their rehearsal space and their first esperanceras blankets. Since then, the group has toured the stages of the Archipelago and has exceeded a dozen recorded albums.
The performance, which lasted for more than 90 minutes, left the public wanting more. At the end of the concert, the public shouted for one last song, a request that was complicitly attended by the Corujo brothers and Achamán. All together, including the attendees, sang the iconic pasodoble "Islas Canarias", closing the night with emotion and Canarian pride.
The Councilor for Festivities and First Deputy Mayor of Arrecife, Echedey Eugenio, personally congratulated the artists at the end of the concert, thanking them for their contribution to a festival that, once again, demonstrates the strength of popular roots in the neighborhoods of the capital.
