Tinajo turns on the Christmas lights

An event that was enlivened by the Municipal Folklore School of Tinajo and the Municipal Music Band

Without a doubt, every year the Christmas lighting ceremony in Tinajo brings together a large audience from different parts of the island. At seven in the afternoon, with the welcoming words of the mayor of the Tinajo City Council, Jesús Machín, the long-awaited Christmas lighting began.

This year with a spectacular and very well-achieved design dedicated to the sports of cycling and skating, a work created by the person in charge and electrician of the City Council, Pepe Rivera and his entire team. The figures installed in the roundabout located at the entrance of the town and its surroundings are in constant movement, highlighting the combination of their colors with micro-LED lights in each of the figures displayed there. The moment the mayor pressed the ignition button, the public's cameras and cell phones began to fire to immortalize the moment.

Jesús Machín, who looked very happy and excited, addressed all those present to congratulate them on these Christmas holidays with a message in which he asked "that we be in solidarity with those most in need, with the migrants who arrive on our island seeking a better future and above all that the wars stop where so many men, women, old people and children die every day." In addition, the mayor encouraged everyone to visit the municipality during these holidays, participating in the extensive program of events for all ages prepared by the Tinajo City Council and which will last until January 6. Machín concluded his speech by congratulating each and every one of the City Council workers and the companies that have worked "flat out" achieving the set objective.

Next, in the souk of the church of San Roque, the students of the Municipal Folklore School of Tinajo, directed by professors Roberto Gil and Adrián Pérez, together with the musicians of the Tinajo Music Band, Peña de San Roque, directed by Professor Orlando Morales, performed the carols 'A child is born', 'This little child' and 'Merry Christmas' which were greatly applauded by the public while a fireworks display lit up the sky of Tinajo.

And so the Nativity Scene located in the Plaza de San Roque was inaugurated. A Portal that is a design by councilor Luis Miguel Pérez Berriel that had the labor of city council workers and a company hired to carry out a work that does not lack the slightest detail. Next day 25 at 7:00 p.m. the staging of 'Living Portal' will take place, in which women, men and children participate, and at the end the Parranda Son del Norte will liven up the evening.
