After the summer break, the Casa-Museo del Timple in Teguise once again opened the doors of the Museum Room to host the concert of the 'Filigrana' quintet, on Sunday morning. The public was able to enjoy and discover at the same time, the root of some of the music regions of peninsular Spain. A music with much similarity to those that are played and sung in the Canary Islands.
The group 'Filigrana', for its first staging at the Casa-Museo del Timple, chose a rich and varied musical repertoire for many of those present. The Corridiño Oliventino, the Jota Manchega, the Seguidillas de Alcázar de San Juan, the Malagueña de Barxeta or the Fandango de Ballesteros de Calatrava stood out, among others, with the Folía, the Isa and the Malagueña from Tenerife also very present. The Tenerife quintet 'Filigrana', not only played and sang the songs of other regions but also complemented it with total mastery with cultural brushstrokes on the origin of the music.
About 'Filigrana'
The first direct contact with music that the five members of 'Filigrana' had was within Canarian folklore at a very early age, in childhood, with which each of them learned and was part of the typical formation of the Canary Islands: the Parranda. Learning and experimenting with the typical instruments of the same, which are the ones they now also play in each concert. The person in charge of the Spanish guitar, Daniel Morales, the timple player Francisco Aday, the person in charge of the bandurria and the plectrum instruments Yeray Herrera, who are joined by the voices of José Félix Álvarez and Laura Álvarez. To complete the extensive musical repertoire, they were accompanied by tambourines, castanets and some household utensils such as; the mortar, the pan, the pot or the anise bottle among others.
The Canary Islands, for a long time welcomed music from other places and from those borrowed sounds the Canarian musical folklore was born, from which now 'Filigrana', proposes to return to the places where those melodies came from. At the end of the concert, the public stood up, rewarding with their applause the magnificent work of Filigrana, who received from the hand of the Councilor for Culture of the Teguise City Council, Javier Díaz, the advertising poster as a souvenir of his visit to the Casa-Museo del Timple.
